Ruth Whelan, Teacher, Sustainability Learning Centre
A community conversation about integrating Place into outdoor education. This will be an experiential evening exploring the importance of connecting to place. This session will be suitable for outdoor ed. staff – guides, TA’s and teachers. We will start the evening in the talking circle before heading to the bush adjacent to the Sustainability Learning Centre. During this time, we will develop our group understanding of the importance of place to every person. The evening will conclude with a group discussion around how to embed place into outdoor education in Tasmania, and you will also have the opportunity to ask Ruth any questions about the Sustainability Learning Centre and bringing your class there for an activity.
Bring suitable outdoor clothes to be comfortable in the bush for the conditions on the day. Light refreshments will be provided by OET.
Meet 3.45pm for a 4pm sharp start. Access via Hobart College entrance, turn left to the carparks and follow the signs to the Sustainability Learning Centre.
